Calculating the correct numbers of paper ribbons, satin flat ribbons, and division rosettes for each BOB show was a continuing challenge over the years due to many classlist changes.  Not to mention the additional effort of figuring out the correct number of NAN cards to order.

 

Then...   In 2023 we added double judging!  Oh joy, more ribbon types -AND- more NAN cards!   :-O

 

Recently I wondered if we could somehow design and implement a spreadsheet that would ease the burden of keeping track of all those calculations?

 

That turned out to be a big project in itself.  We went through several designs but discarded most of them since they were either hard to use, hard to interpret, or hard to troubleshoot.

 

Finally, one version looked promising.  We filled it in with the classlist information from our upcoming 2025 show.  Then we double checked its totals with a calculator and lots of scribbles on paper.  Yay, it works!   :-)

 

Now all we have to do any time we make changes to the classlist is update the names of the divisions, how many classes and callbacks there are in each division, and (most importantly) how many classes earn the various colors of NAN cards in each division!

 

Problem solved!   :-)
